A HERO IN OUR MIDST
Carson McQuillan, of the U-14 Soccer Devils,
saved her 7 year old neighbor one Friday night after a Clearview High School
football game.
As Carson and her
neighbor were crossing Breakneck Road, a car appeared and Carson pulled her
neighbor out of harms way.
Carson
saved Claire Eisenhart, but in the process had her foot run over.
Carson had to wear a boot on her foot and stay on crutches for a
while. This story was brought to our attention, and the board of Mantua
Township Soccer wanted to recognize Carson for her bravery off of the soccer
field.
2007 FALL CHAMPIONS
We would like to
congratulate the MTSA teams that won their division championships this fall.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Mantua Township
Soccer Champions:
·
Tonadoes, U-12 Boys, Coach Giaquinto
·
Coach Pitt, Coach Wagner, and Coach Burke girls teams were playing for
the championship (results not in before printing of newsletter)
UNIFORM/EQUIPMENT RETURNS
MTSA hands out
t-shirts and black shorts for all In-House players. The children get to keep
the t-shirts while the shorts are supposed to be returned to MTSA at the end
of the season. We typically only receive two-thirds of our shorts back each
year. Any coaches and parents that
still have black shorts, PLEASE bring them with you to registration.
When all of the shorts are returned, this helps keep registration costs down
for everyone.
Coaches –
PLEASE drop off any equipment that you might have from the Fall on the
registration dates.
Thanks
for your help!
NOTE FROM THE
PRESIDENT
I would
like to thank the coaches, parents, and players for a successful Fall
season. For the most part, our parents and coaches exhibited good
sportsmanship and proper conduct. However, we did have several incidents of
inappropriate behavior by coaches (both boys & girls teams) this past
season.
Per our sportsmanship
(STICS) program, the Mantua Soccer Board issued game suspensions to all
coaches who received a yellow/red card.
The Board appreciates all the hard work and effort put in by our coaches and
does not want to suspend anyone.
So let’s look for some improvement and aim for a “perfect season” this
Spring.
The fall season is now behind us and overall it was a very successful year
for all the teams.
We have teams
competing in South Jersey Girls Soccer League (SJGSL) and in the Gloucester
County Soccer League.
Unfortunately, the newsletter was published before all the final results
were in so we cannot congratulate any teams that may have won their division
championships.
The U10 parents
attended a “Laws of The Game” this September and every player & parent
signed a “Sportsmanship Pledge”.
We have taken a zero tolerance approach to the misconduct of our coaches,
players and parents and have developed the “Sportsmanship, Teamwork,
Integrity, and Conduct in Sports” (STICS) Program.
In closing I want
to thank everyone, coaches, players and parents for their efforts this past
fall season to help ensure a challenging and bright future for our girls
soccer program.
BOYS TRAVEL PROGRAM
Reminder to all travel players & parents,
registration for travel soccer will be held in December. It is earlier
this year, so that we can finalize our rosters sooner than we have in past
years.
Thanks again to all the volunteers who make the
Boys Travel Program possible, Coaches, Asst. Coaches, Managers, and STICS
Coordinators in particular. Without your time and effort, the travel
program would not exist. On that note, we could always use more help.
We are specifically looking for a second U10 (8 v 8) Head Coach to lead
an experienced group of boys this spring. Contact me right away if you are
interested or know someone you would recommend.
An F License is required. To all parents,
MTSA's Boys travel program participates in NJ Youth Soccer through the South
Jersey Soccer League (SJSL) and therefore are bound by its rules and the
rules of NJ Youth Soccer. For that reason, we are limited to roster
sizes, paperwork, adding players, etc. If you have questions, please
ask. I'll answer any questions and explain any decisions that you
might not understand or agree with.
IN-HOUSE PROGRAM
We would like to thank the in-house coaches &
referees for all your time and dedication to the Mantua Soccer program.
Without you we would not be able to run a successful program.
~Kristin & Brian
SPORTWEAR ORDERS
This spring we are offering various sportswear items
for sale so that the parents and kids can show their pride in Mantua Soccer.
Enclosed is an order form, which will be collected during the 1st
week of the (In-House) spring season.
Please look over the forms, fill them out and turn them in to the
concession stand or team manager during the 1st week (tentatively
March 30th).
INDOOR SOCCER
MTSA does
not organize indoor soccer teams. If any coaches wish to organize a team you
can register a team at one of the indoor facilities.
As in the past, MTSA will allow you to use
photocopies of our players passes. MTSA assumes no authority over the
coaches who take teams indoors. Contact any officer for more information.
